Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility at BCN
At BCN, we believe that successful entrepreneurship goes hand in hand with responsibility for people, the environment, and society. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is therefore an integral part of our business operations.
On this page, you can read how we put this into practice. From sustainable catering and conscious partnerships to actively promoting social inclusion. For us, CSR is not a passing trend, but a structural and deliberate choice embedded in everything we do.
A place for people and community
BCN is more than just a meeting venue. We aim to make a positive contribution to the world around us through hospitality, responsible choices, and social engagement. We don’t do this alone, but together with our suppliers, partners, and guests.

Sustainable business practices
Sustainability starts with the basics. That’s why BCN works as much as possible with local and seasonal products in its kitchen. Our chefs prepare fresh, healthy, and conscious lunches every day. All locations feature coffee lounges with unlimited coffee, tea, and soft drinks, without waste.
These efforts have earned us the Green Key Gold certification, the leading international quality label for sustainable businesses in the hospitality and meeting industry. With this, we demonstrate that we don’t just think sustainably, we act sustainably.

Responsible choices & conscious technology
In addition to food and inclusivity, technology also plays an important role in our sustainability mission. We use energy-efficient equipment and facilitate hybrid meetings, reducing the number of travel movements. Our rooms are equipped by default with modern tools such as video conferencing setups, wireless microphones, and interactive screens. This ensures efficient use and less waste.
We also consciously reduce paper usage by encouraging digital working. When paper is necessary, we use recycled materials.

Equal opportunities for everyone
BCN believes in inclusivity and equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of background, age, or level of education. That is why we support initiatives such as JINC, an organisation that helps young people get a fair start on the labour market. Through short internships and job application training sessions, we make an impact on the generation of tomorrow.
We also focus on diversity within our own organisation. We offer a working environment in which employees feel heard and valued, and where there is room for personal growth and development.
SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth
Bij BCN geloven we dat de juiste omgeving het veAt BCN, we believe in working fairly and sharing our knowledge. Not only within our own organisation, but also beyond it. The wellbeing of our employees is our top priority, but we also look further than that.
That is why we are a recognised training company for vocational education (mbo) and a partner of JINC, an organisation committed to equal opportunities for all children. Through JINC, primary school students are introduced to the world of hospitality. They spend a day with us and gain an inspiring insight into our work.
Our social engagement is also reflected in small, everyday choices. For example, in as many locations as possible we serve Café Intención coffee: 100% Arabica coffee with both Fairtrade certification and the EKO label. In this way, we support fair trade, better working conditions, and increased biodiversity. And the cookies served with coffee? They come from De Koekfabriek, where people with a distance to the labour market proudly bake artisanal cookies.
In this way, we aim to make a positive contribution in different ways fair, conscious, and with care for one another. A place where people come together to learn, grow, and achieve success. Step by step, session by session.

SDG 10: Reduced inequalities
At BCN, we believe in equal opportunities and the power of diversity. Everyone is welcome to participate, and every contribution matters. For us, diversity and inclusion are more than just words, they form the foundation of a strong organisation. A workplace where people feel welcome and valued not only creates a positive atmosphere, but also fosters innovation and better results.
That is why we actively build a work culture based on respect and openness, where everyone feels free to share ideas and opinions. In addition, we invest in personal growth: through education and training, we give everyone the opportunity to develop and bring out the best in themselves.
SDG 13: Climate action
It is an integral part of the way we work. Whether it concerns seasonal products at the lunch buffet, careful waste separation, or the conscious choice of FSC-certified paper: we pay attention to our impact and take responsibility.
Our commitment is underlined by the Green Key Gold certification, the leading proof that we meet strict sustainability standards in the hospitality sector. This includes green energy from solar and wind power across all our locations, lighting with motion sensors, and water-saving taps, all aimed at reducing consumption and minimising waste.
We also make sustainable choices on the plate. We offer a wide vegetarian selection and are proud to be the first meeting and training venue in the Netherlands to receive the LEKKER VEGA certification from the Dutch Vegetarians’ Association. In addition, at several locations guests can collect surprise packages with surplus food on a daily basis.
