An eye for today and tomorrow

While we are doing everything we can today to make your meeting a success, we are also thinking about tomorrow. Our Green Key certification proves that hospitality and sustainability impact one another and thus go hand in hand. At BCN, sustainable thinking and actions are integral parts of our commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Sustainable business practices

All sustainability actions begin with the basics. For the sustainability actions we undertake at BCN, we work with local suppliers who offer seasonal products to be prepared in our kitchens. Our Chefs prepare fresh and nutritious meals every day for our lunches. We aim to minimize food waste as much as we can. Hereby, we have a sustainable partnership with Too Good To Go and all our coffee lounges are equipped with glass mugs in order to enjoy your unlimited intake of coffee, soda’s and thee without waste.

These sustainable actions have earned us the Green Key Golden Certificate, which is the international certificate granted towards sustainable companies in the hospitality and meeting industry. By this, we show that we not only think sustainably but also act sustainably.

Ensuring equal opportunities for all

BCN believes in inclusivity and equal opportunities for everyone regardless of one’s background, age, and educational level. Hereby, we support initiatives such as JINC, which is an organization that helps young people get an equal start in the labor market. Through opportunities such as internships and internal training, we make an impact on the generation that is to come.

Nevertheless, internally we greatly support diversity on the work floor. We offer a work environment where employees are heard and feel appreciated. This results in possibilities for personal growth and continuous learning.

SDG 10: Reducing inequality

At BCN, we believe in equal opportunities and the power of diversity. Everyone deserves equal opportunities and every contribution matters. For us, diversity and inclusion are not just aspirational words, they are the foundation of a strong and resilient organization. A workplace where people feel welcomed and valued not only fosters a positive atmosphere but also drives innovation and improved performance.

This is why we are actively building a culture of respect and openness, where everyone feels empowered to share their ideas and perspectives. We also offer educational trainings to enhance one’s personal development. Through such educational trainings, we provide everyone with the opportunity to grow, develop, and reach their full potential.

SDG 13: Climate action

At BCN, sustainability is not a second option,  it is an integral part of how we operate. Whether it’s offering seasonal ingredients at our lunch buffet, carefully separating waste, or choosing FSC-certified paper, we remain mindful of our impact and take our environmental responsibilities seriously.

Our commitment is recognized by the Golden Green Key certification, a leading standard that confirms our compliance with strict sustainability criteria in the hospitality sector. Across all our locations, we use 100% renewable energy from solar and wind, motion-sensor lighting, and water-saving fixtures, all aimed at reducing consumption and minimizing waste.

Sustainability is also seen through what is presented at our lunch buffet’s.  We offer a wide range of vegetarian options and are proud to be the first meeting and training venue in the Netherlands to receive the LEKKER VEGA quality mark from the Dutch Vegetarian Association. Additionally, we partner with Too Good To Go to reduce food waste. At several locations, guests can collect surprise packages containing surplus food at the end of the day.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

At BCN, we believe in doing business with integrity, and in sharing our knowledge with others, both within and beyond our organization. The well-being of our employees is a top priority, but our commitment extends further. We are a certified training company for vocational education (MBO) and a proud partner of JINC, an organization dedicated to creating equal opportunities for all children. Through JINC, we introduce primary school students to the world of hospitality by inviting them to spend a day with us and gain an inspiring behind-the-scenes look at our work.

Our social responsibility is also reflected in the small, everyday choices we make. For example, at all of our locations, we serve Café Intención, a 100% Arabica coffee that carries both the Fairtrade and EKO certifications. With this choice, we support fair trade, better working conditions, and greater biodiversity. In regards to the cookies that go along with your coffee, we partner with De Koekfabriek. Here, bakers with a distance to the labor market proudly craft artisan treats.

Through large and small quantities, we aim to make a positive impact. With honesty, intention, and care for one another.
